Review: Lianne Le Havas Live at The Royal Albert Hall, London, 14/03/16

We have seen Lianne Le Havas perform live before at Bestival 2015 so we knew to expect excellence and she didn’t fail on this occasion.

The Royal Albert Hall served as a perfect venue for her voice. The high ceilings created a hair-raising atmosphere as her voice echoed amongst the silenced crowds. Lianne has an impressive amount of control over her vocal chords. She pricks your ears with gentle melodies and just when you’re hooked, she becomes a powerhouse. As well as playing the guitar throughout the entire evening, with support from her band, Lianne displayed her impressive array of songs that have led to her success.

One of our favourite parts of the entire performance is when she brought out Norbury Manor Choir. Lianne’s old secondary school music teacher orchestrated the choir as they created a mesmerising sound to accompany Lianne. Lianne joined them in the encore to sing “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” which was mesmerising.

The icing on the cake came when Lianne covered Aretha Franklin’s “Say A Little Prayer For You” which was amazing. So much so that we scoured the Internet trying to find her version. Luckily, she has posted a version on her SoundCloud. You’re welcome.
