BET AWARDS: Janet Jackson Ultimate Icon

BET Awards celebrated its 15th anniversary in style with the Hip-hop Prince Kendrick Lamar kicking off the show!

Hi-lights of the auspicious BET Award ceremony included Janet Jackson receiving the Ultimate Icon Music Dance Visual Award, following a star-studded fitting performance, from Jason Derulo, Tinashe and Ciara who closed the tribute with ‘Rhythm Nation’. The legendary singer released a new track last week, ‘No Sleeep’ with the legendary producers Jimmy Jam who also presented her with the Award.Terrence Howard, star of the hit Fox series Empire, won the first ever award for best actor, STORMZY the South London Grime Artiste MC took home the Award for Best International Act.

The BET Award Trophy was inspired by three words – Aspire, Ascend, Achieve, with the televised event hosted by comedian Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross.
