With under a day to go, we are beyond excited for Bestival 2015 as it returns again to the Isle of Wight for three days of music, food, and alcohol. This year, the line-up looks better than ever…
We are most excited about welcoming the Queen of Hip Hop back to the UK after 9 years, the one and only Missy Elliot! And we are more than ready to shake a leg to hits like ‘Get Your Freak On’ and
‘Lose Control’. Elliot has shaped so many of our favourite artists careers that to witness her perform live will be a moment not to be missed. In fact, most people do not know the level of genius that is Missy Elliot. Working alongside childhood friend Timbaland, the duo produced and wrote a number of Aaliyah’s timeless songs such as ‘One in a Million’ and ‘4 Page Letter’. Elliot has produced and wrote songs for Destiny’s Child, Faith Evans, P Diddy, Ludacris, Jasmine Sullivan and many more. She has also featured on a huge amount of songs such as Ciara’s ‘1, 2, Step’. She then made a cameo in hit film ‘Honey’.
The list of her professional achievements goes on. As she closes the festival on Sunday night, it will be a nostalgic but legendary end to the three-day event. Make sure you also look out for The Jacksons who will throw out all the old time classics like ‘ABC’ and ‘I Want You Back’. The hugely talented Mark Ronson will also grace the stage and we can already anticipate the crowd’s reaction to ‘Uptown Funk’… The UK grime scene also features heavily in the line-up, highlighting the growing support and love of the genre amongst Brits. We can expect members of Boy Better Know like JME, Skepta, Frisco and Jammer to get the crowd going as well as Wiley and Stormzy. It’s going to be hype.
One of the best things about Bestival is its diversity. Headlining alongside Missy Elliot is The Chemical Brothers and Duran Duran. Once you’ve finished listening to BBK, Lianne La Havas will definitely chill you out. Her debut album ‘Is Your Love Big Enough?’ was so moving that we eagerly anticipated her newest album ‘Blood’. And she didn’t disappoint. Moving away from heartbreak, Havas manages to combine a soul-stirring voice with a chilled out vibe. She will create an amazing atmosphere at a festival.
Alongside our excitement for the music, we also have some very useful tips for all the campers out there! One of the most strenuous aspects of camping involves lugging all of your stuff from the car to your designated camping spot. This year, Halfords offer a great service where you can pre-order your camping equipment (tents etc.) and then pick it up on site, saving a lot of time and effort. Popular service When Nature Calls is also back at Bestival this year. For £30 for the entire weekend, you can have access to CLEAN toilets (!!!) which are checked by staff frequently. It also provides hair washing, hair drying and straightening facilities for those who encounter bad hair days that even dry shampoo won’t fix.
So… brush the dust off your wellies, pack wisely and see you there! Make sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to follow our journey at Bestival and for all of the latest music
